Valerie, a Maine Native, graduated from the University of Southern Maine's Lewiston-Auburn College in 2003 with a Bachelor's Degree in Social and Behavioral Studies and a minor in Educational Studies. In college she was in the CLASS:PDS Program, a K-8 teacher education program, during which time she spent several years learning hands-on in the classroom besides mentor teachers. After college, Valerie started a family and has been a proud stay-at-home mom to two boys, Ehric (age 6) and Aiden (age 4). In 2008, Valerie started a local support group for Lewiston-Auburn area homeschoolers called, Making Memories Together. This support group currently has over 20 local families. Since 2009, she has been a leader of Nature Kids on Outdoor Adventures (NKOA), a nature-based 4-H group. She is currently taking early childhood courses with the Maine Roads to Quality Program towards a Child Development Associate (CDA). Valerie recently was a Preschool Environmental Education Intern with Maine Audubon at Gilsland Farm. She enjoys working with Preschoolers and their families; and getting children outdoors and hands-on with nature! She created Seasons of the Earth Preschool so that 3-5 year olds can learn first hand how awesome and unique the four seasons are in Maine!
